For your blogging assignment on the LHC, you need to write a personal comment about how you feel about this multi billion dollar project. After your researching about what is does and filling out your questionnaire, do you see anything "extraodinary" coming out of this type of project that so many countries are vested in? After you comment, you have to log back in one more time before Monday and reply to someone else's comment and support or oppose their claims in a nice way. Be sure to elaborate on why you feel the way you do. Both the original comment and reply post need to be no less than 3 sentences.

I do not, because it doesn't really matter how the world began. It only matters that we're here now and that we take care of the world and the people in it.

I agree with you. People shouldn't spend money on such things instead of helping the poor, teaching our children, or even getting our selves out of this national dept hole!

Ya we should not be spending money that we don't have. It is a waste of a budget because I don't think that knowing that the Big Bang Thoery is where the works came from will change anything for us.

Well, I somewhat agree with you but I think it would be interesting to be able to see if their Big Bang actually happened or if the world was just there in the first place and that god just wanted something on the planet so he placed 2 humans on the world to inhabit it so the world wouldn't go to waste.

I agree in that I am curious to how the world began. However, there could be more negative consequences than positive ones if this research continues. Suffice to say, I can understand both sides of the argument.

i belive it is important to no what these first building blocks are but maybe another time becuse we are in a national debt with other countries and we should get our selves out of debt before spending millions on somthing that we dont no much about

I don't think the project uses money wisely. It uses billions of dollars every year for maintaining it. The money the LHC uses could be put to feed the poor and secure medical advances. It also has many risks. It produces extreme amount of energy, even small black holes. All to find one piece to an equation....

True that! If we were supposed to know how we came to be then we would know already. People have their thoughts on how the world was made, but none with evidence. We have already spent that money but it shouldn't be spent anymore than it already has been. Find something else to use the money on.

Finding what makes up protons and such is stupid. Trying to find out (which means you could be wrong) is like trying to find out the color of King Edwards underwear. It's irrelevant!

I will delete responses not long enough or without incite as to why you feel this way. You will only get graded on replies that hold weight.

I don't think the LHC is worth the money. I don't believe that the world was made by a couple of particles colliding together and then bang now everything is the way it is. I don't think that using all this money to keep the LHC up and running is worth knowing for sure how the Earth came to be.

I don't agree with spending this much money on the LHC. It doesn't matter how the Universe was created because we alreday know that. We need to spend the money on more important things like getting the economy back on track and creating new jobs for people. If the scientest really want to kno how the Universe was created all they need to do is read the Bible. That has all the answers they will need to expplain the entire Universe.

I see what you are saying stone. But we are in tons of debt as it is and all this is doing so far is just creating a bigger debt for America! Also what happens if this project went on for to long without any results then all the money we wasted would be in vain which we could have used in order to dig our way out of the debt we are in also they could find something but how much would we have spent by then. Also what if what we found out was something useless then what would we have spent to find out that one piece of information that might have not happened because it might have been caused by a scientists who made an error while observing it.

I mean come on we don't need to know how the world began right off the bat we could wait a while its not as if the earth depends on it.

I think that the LHC is a waste of money, because you have the government trying to make new ways to get out of debt yet they put money into something that you don't even know if you will find what you are looking for. Then again if they find something that is the cheaper for gas or anything like that then it improves the government. i am in the middle on this... I just don't see why they want to find out when it happened so long ago. we are still alive now and what if they do something wrong and it ruins the Earth..
